A Woman with a Higher Calling in Today’s World
Saturday, January 30, 2010 5:22History proves that hell may have no fury like a woman scorned, but heaven itself might have trouble competing with the heart of a woman bent on doing good no matter what obstacles might be in her way. Dede Wilsey just so happens to be one of those women with the heart of an ultimate nurturer and it is her passion that she derives from her own flower gardens at home that is best displayed through her work in philanthropy that can accomplish so much good for not only her home city of San Francisco, but the whole world as they come pouring through this famed city of art and architecture. Nowhere in the world would one find such freedom and in few other individuals could one find such a deep spring of generosity ready to come pouring out in such an infectious way that it causes others to want to contribute to what she herself does first before asking anyone to help.
Once a woman like this takes on a project, so long as she is giving her all it is nearly destiny that it should succeed, but there are always times of doubt. Political infighting and other petty concerns have threatened to knock Dede Wilsey off her course while she worked to build hospitals and art museums, but not once has she ever given in to these perceived ruiners of her hopes and dreams. She eats, sleeps and breathes the projects that she undertakes and the proof is in the fact that both the de Young Museum and the hospital she helped enable at the University of California in San Francisco are both realities today. The funding, the one thing that stops so many, has not slowed this woman and instead she made it her personal focus to achieve these goals despite anything that might ever get in her way.
